Septic Tank Treatment
SEPTIC
TANK AND DRAIN FIELD TREATMENT
A septic tanks work in a manner very similar to a grease trap. The
septic tank has baffles that are arranged so that all solid matter,
including the grease, is held inside the tank. When it is functioning
properly, only clear water is allowed to flow out of the tank into
the drain field.
As
you may suspect, the septic tank would fill up with solids very
quickly if there were no bacteria to digest the waste. We add Septibac®
to ensure that there are large numbers present to digest the waste
that is held in the tank. Remember, these bacteria/enzymes are specially
grown for their ability to digest waste QUICKLY WITHOUT ODORS,
or NOXIOUS GAS.
If the septic tank is not functioning properly, solids may be washed
out of the tank into the drain field. Here, they clog the pores
of the drain field. The drain field has been specially constructed
of sand and gravel, to allow the water effluent from the septic
tank to filter slowly into the ground. If the pores of the drain
field are clogged with solids, the water effluent will filter (percolate)
properly, creating puddles of standing waste water and causing the
whole system to back-up.
Bacteria
make the septic system function properly. Without this bacterial
action, a septic tank is useless. However, there are mechanical
and design problems that can occur in these systems. All bacteria
in the world can not make an improperly constructed systems work!
For instance, if the septic tank baffles are broken, Septibac®
can not fix this mechanical problem.
